Volunteering At The

4th Street Lilac Festival

Sunday May 30th 2010

Breakfast: (5:30 – 6:30 AM) - Provided to volunteers helping with set-up . Check in at the Information Tent located at 21 st Ave. & 4 th Street (west intersection).

Set-up: (6:30 – 8:30 AM) – Set-up vendor banquet tables along 4 th Street and staple location number to it. Assist with various other set-up tasks as required.

Block Captain: (8:00 – 10:00 AM) – Help assist vendors in locating their spot with valid permit. Meeting location at 21st Ave. & 4th Street (westside) at the Information Tent.

Traffic Assistant: (9:00 AM - 7:00 PM) - To work with Calgary Police Service in directing pedestrian traffic at 17th Ave. & 4th St. SW. Two 5 hour shifts available (9:00 AM – 2:00 PM & 2:00 – 7:00 PM)

Stage Manager: Keep the programmed schedule running on time. Assist bands throughout shift. Monitor power source. Provide general information and relay pertinent information to event organizers or site managers.

•  Main Stage (10:30 – 2:30 & 2:15 – 6:15 = 2 – 4 hour shifts or full day)

•  Ave. Stage (11:45 – 2:45 & 2:45 – 5:45 = 2 – 3 hour shifts or full day)

•  18 th Ave. Performance Stage (10:45 – 2:30 & 2:15 – 6:00 shifts)

Parade Marshal: (9:00 – 11:30 AM) – Walk along parade route to keep the flow of the parade participants consistent. Meeting location at 25 th Ave. & 4 th Street .

Clean-Up Crew: (11:00 AM – 6:30 PM) – Remove full garbage bags from receptacles, replace with a new garbage bag and dispose into large bins. Check in at the Information Tent located at 21 st . Ave. & 4 th Street (west intersection).

Tear-down: (5:30 – 7:00 PM) – Motivate vendors to disassemble displays, pack-up, fold tables and place on side walk if not already done.

OTHER NOTES:

•  Meals and beverages are provided for volunteers throughout the day

•  Letters of recommendation/reference will be provided upon request

•  Appreciation packages presented to each volunteer – includes T-Shirt, official Lilac Festival merchandise and VIP passes.
