As we head into the winter cold, (we know, you do not want to hear that!), one thing you really need to protect is your hair. From hat hair to static electricity, split ends to dry frizz, when winter weather hits, a bad hair day can last an entire season.
So we asked the owner John Ashleigh, and the other experts at Avenue Hair (they have over 125 years of experience in the first three chairs alone, in their salon), what you can do to keep your hair happy all winter long, and here’s what they had to say;
Winter is coming, and we offer many conditioning treatments to combat the dryness of a Calgary winter, Including:
What is a Keratin Treatment?
It’s a protein that’s naturally in your hair.
How It Works: A stylist applies a keratin hair-straightening product to your hair and then uses the heat of a flat iron to seal it in. The process takes about 90 minutes or longer, depending on your hair’s length.
Upkeep: After you get a keratin hair treatment, and after the don’t-wash waiting period, you should use sodium-sulfate-free shampoo to help maintain the treatment.
How Long It Lasts: Expect the results to last two to 2 1/2 months.
What is a steampod treatment?
L’Oreal’s Steampod treatment sees a preparation cream, which is packed with cuticle-smoothing keratin and ceramides, applied to shampooed hair before it’s expertly blow dried.
The second step, where the treatment gets a bit more focused, uses a specialized straightening iron to deliver a localized stream of high pressure steam to the hair shaft, deeply hydrating the hair without causing heat damage or drying it out to deliver a high gloss finish.
How it works: The steampod tool boasts a water filtration system to produce pure steam to rehydrate and nourish damaged hair while the blow dry creams are packed with Pro-Keratin technology to help rebuild and strengthen fibres to leave hair looking smooth, sleek and feeling healthier.
Upkeep: Steampod treatment is a short-term solution that only lasts a matter of days.
On top of the treatments, Avenue Hair offers a complete line of high-quality products to compliment your cuts and colours, as well as deluxe European facials and body treatments!
