We wanted to bring you a snapshot of what living on Fourth Street looks like, so we sat down with a local resident and super-mom and wife, Anne M. Curious how she spends her day? Keep reading to see what a typical weekday looks like for this lady-about-town!

6:00am: Wake up

“I love getting up early to enjoy some at-home stretching on my yoga mat. I get to enjoy a few quiet moments with my yoga & cup of tea before the kiddos get up and I get them ready to go to school. My husband drops them off on his way to the office so I can get down to my home office and answer a few emails.”

7:30am: Head to La Boulangerie for breakfast and a meeting.

“After getting the big things done at home, like answer emails and unload the dishwasher, I hop on my bike and head to La Boulangerie for a fresh almond croissant, heavenly latte, and quick meeting with a client. I love meeting here because there’s food for everyone and it’s such a bright, beautiful café! I feel transported to France and love their patio in the summertime.”

8:45am: Bike to Massage Heights.

“I really like to go for a massage at Massage Heights every two weeks. It keeps my mind relaxed and centered and helps my shoulder pain so much. I like to include one of their add-ons sometimes, like hot stones, which are free with memberships – soooo worth it!”

10:10am: Bike to Central Memorial Park (drop off kiddos’ books at library)

“After relaxing at my massage – and drinking a lot of water after – I jump back on my bike and head up to Central Memorial Park. I had to drop off my kid’s library books, but I also had a quick client call while I sat by the fountain and enjoyed the beautiful scenery!”

11:30am: Bike to Repsol

“Once I’ve wrapped up my call, I get back on my bicycle and head over to Repsol for a midday workout. What I love about Repsol is the variety of programs and options to work out. My girlfriends and I like to use the Power Cycle Studio for a Spin class now and then, but my favourite thing is the huge cardio and fitness facility. It’s got so many pieces of equipment that I never get bored and can always find something new and challenging.”

1:45pm: Head to Mercato

“I like to try and cook wholesome, healthy meals for my family as much as possible. There are tons of great restaurants around our neighbourhood, but we try to make dinner at home six days a week. I love using ingredients from Mercato – their produce and deli sections are my favourite in Calgary. Everything is always so fresh! What I can’t get at Mercato I pick up from Safeway on my way home.”

3:00pm: Bike to Butter Beauty Parlour

“After a day of errands and a bit of work, I drop all the groceries off at home before heading back out the door to walk over to Butter Beauty Parlour. I personally feel so much prettier when I have my nails done, so I make sure to get them done twice a month by the awesome techs at Butter. On occasion, I like to get my hair blown out as well. My husband really loves big, bouncy waves and I can’t figure out how to do the style myself – so I leave it to the pros!”

5:00pm: Uber to cocktails at Milk Tiger

“My husband and I try to have date night as often as possible. We both have busy schedules, so meeting up for a post-work drink is a great way to connect without the kids. He got the babysitter organized so I was able to hop in an Uber from Butter directly to our favourite cocktail bar, Milk Tiger. I love enjoying the Parisienne Negroni while my husband prefers the Toronto cocktail. They have an amazing selection of cognacs – which we both enjoy.”

7:30pm: Reservation at Shokunin

“Our favourite date night dinner spot has to be Shokunin! Not only is Darren McLean such an inventive chef, we love the cool and young vibe of the restaurant. Funky wallpaper make for great selfies and old school rap is always pumping on the sound system. Even though we’re in our 30s, we feel like we fit in perfectly with the crowd. Plus, their service is bar none – we like to let the server choose our courses for us. They always explain each dish to us which is something I personally really love.”

10:00pm: Taxi home

“After dinner is over, husband and I take a taxi home and get the babysitter paid before she heads out. We check in on the kids and then start our bed time routine. I love using skin care products from Neal’s Yard Remedies to take off my make up before bed. We set our alarm for the next day and hit the hay!”
