Heading into December you may have noticed a lot of our articles are about relaxing and rejuvenating you. With so much going on in our lives, especially this time of year it only makes sense we need a little self-love and self-care.
We hope you got your detox recipe down and your oxygen facial booked, cause today we are heading to “The Home Of Om”, where we are learning how to reach a point of clarity unlike we ever experienced, it’s time to cut out all the noise, during the busiest time of the year and just reconnect with ourselves!
For those of you who do not know where Home Of Om, is located you can find them on the entire bottom floor of 2312 4th Street, below Altruistic and Mucho Burrito!
Walking into Home of Om we were greeted with the most delightful items, and people. Walking into a shop like this can be extremely intimidating, I won’t lie.. however, the team made us so at ease and they were all jokes and information, giving us a new take on learning about finding our true selves!
One treatment we really want to feature is the flotation chamber, it truly takes you out of this world and brings you to a calm quiet place, where you will hear only your thoughts! Okay, so let’s learn a bit more about it!
Here, we go! This information was provided by Home Of Om!
In our daily lives, we are bombarded with sensory information, our minds truly do not know what it is like to just BE. This processing of information occupies the large majority of our brain’s capacity at any given moment. A float tank is designed to provide an opportunity for our mind to stretch its legs, to re-connect, to recover, to be free. The experience can vary greatly and is uniquely your own. It is much like peeling back the layers of an onion, each layer revealing a deeper and deeper area of your mind. It is also quite normal for the experience to improve after a couple sessions as you become more accustomed to the environment and truly letting go.
Your body knows how to heal itself, a float provides the perfect environment for the subconscious to focus on the things that are bothering it and address them. Studies show significant improvements in levels of anxiety, depression, weight loss, aches and pains, sports injuries, chronic pain, stress relief, addictions recovery and health in general. It also has a remarkable impact on creativity, mental clarity and focus, problem-solving, mind/body connection and chakra balancing. In fact, float tanks have been used for decades by high-level athletes with astonishing results. Explore this extensive document from Float Tank Solutions with information on these points and much much more.
Alright, are you ready? Cause if you are they have 2 for 1 floats on right now! What better gift to give this season, the gift of clarity!
Now let’s get to know the lovely team behind Home Of Om!
So! How long have you operated on 4th Street?
Home Of Om: We have been exactly one year now. (Early November last year).
This is such a great shop! What was the inspiration behind the start of your business?
Home Of Om: My wife been doing this for probably 7 years, we used to have a shop on Edmonton trail for 3 years. a space to hold classes/workshops. This place opened up on the coolest intersection in the city (we couldn’t agree more). We took a leap and grew into a fantastic space, with room for all the classes. Angel’s whole philosophy is everyone can do all this, just people have forgotten how. Our sole purpose is to help people reconnect with themselves.
We love that and couldn’t agree more, What’s something we might not know about your business?
Home Of Om: We are 100% family run, family business. You are talking to family in the store anytime you come in.
We support the community, for instance when people come in if they can’t afford a class we make it work. Whether its a trade, or help around the shop. Classes are real prices and real tangible things. Each class comes with 100% money back guarantee, take a class and don’t like it, get your money back. Get a reading and don’t like it, get your money back. We stand behind this!
Well, that is amazing. We love that you make it work, so people are getting the reconnection they need!
Okay, One fun fact.
Home Of Om: We love nibs!! Black ones more than red.
It’s all about sharing, it’s not about pushing or selling. The Fact that they are two or three times the largest tenant in the building a big huge giant space. And they don’t take themselves too seriously.
Of course, we want to know, what do you love most about 4th Street?
Home Of Om: It’s the greatest street in the whole city. Fourth street is just like Paris of Calgary, it’s lively and beautiful. Full of Patios, and shops.
We may already know the answer to this… What’s your one guilty pleasure?
