A favourite Fourth Street shop where you’ll find well-made, thoughtful and ethically sourced clothing, accessories and home goods from artisans across North America, Fieldstudy celebrated their first birthday this November.
Their goal is to provide quality goods that you will have and love for a lifetime, and hope to inspire Calgarians to make more sustainable and ethical choices. They shared what’s in store for the holidays, and tips for gift-giving that does good.
What have you brought in for the holidays?
For the holidays, we have restocked our favorite and most popular pieces, like Group Partner’s Boob Pots, The Horse watches, The Future is Female and Good Human Tees, as well as knitwear from Vancouver brands Hendrik Lou and Bare Knitwear.
Are there any new products or makers in store that you are excited about?
Being a general store, our product is constantly changing and we are adding new brands all the time. We have recently started stocking local ceramicists Clay Bodies and Le Lou Ula–both out of the new Workshop Studio in Inglewood.
The holidays can turn into lots of frivolous spending. Do you have any tips to share on more ethical and sustainable gift-giving?
There are a ton of options in Calgary for locally made goods that are well made, functional and will last a lifetime. Giving gifts you know were made with intention and care feels good. Choose fewer but better items this season, stay away from malls and chain stores, and stick with local boutiques.
